SomerSize Me

Suzanne Somers is probably best known around the world for her role as Chrissy in the hit comedy Three's Company? Where she played ' the dumbest blonde in the world' is seems since that role Suzanne has proved that she is not so dumb after all.

She is probably nearly as well known for her Thigh Master device and its extremely well remembered TV advertisements. Recently, she has developed a new diet and nutrition plan, which she rather cleverly calls the Somersize diet.

Suzanne makes no secret that the basis of many of her ideas for Somersize come from combining the best parts from other diet plans. She has combined what she has learned from studying a vast amount of diet and nutrition literature into one useful diet plan.

SomerSize teaches people how to eat the correct combinations of foods to help kick start their body's metabolism, as a means of losing weight and gaining health. Most people's bodies in the modern world are only geared to dealing greasy foods that do little to help our natural metabolism to function.

Suzanne's extensive research has revealed what she considers to be one of the main culprits for our increased weight and reduced metabolism. She believes that simple white flour plays a huge part in our weight problems. The reason for this is that flour features extremely highly on what is known as the glycemic index.

The glycemic index indicates how much certain foods will increase the production of insulin within the body. Increased insulin production equals a rapid return to hunger after eating as a result we eat more often and eat more at each sitting.

Increased insulin also makes it far more difficult for the body to keep up its energy levels, making people lethargic and lowering metabolism and increasing weight.

Suzanne's earlier publication 'Get Skinny on Fabulous Food' was the basis for the SomerSize plan. The original book was not a diet plan as such, more a teaching tool for people to understand why they eat what they eat, and how to control it.

Somersize is a simple idea that divides foods into four separate groups. Proteins and fats are combined, as one group, because fat and protein when combined cause the bodies digestion of food to slow down greatly.

Another group is carbohydrates as Suzanne is concerned about products made from white flour. She considers that carbohydrates made from other grains are better suited for diet and increased metabolism.

The fruit group is included for its healthy supply of natural unrefined sugars, which Suzanne says are far healthier than sugars found in nearly every processed food.

The last group is vegetables, she encourages the eating of all kinds of vegetables, or a least the ones that are low in starch.

The SomerSize plan has a detailed list of foods that Suzanne considers should be eliminated while participating in her system. There is a lot a very useful, simple to follow information and guidelines for people that are looking for a viable diet that allows plenty of variety to avoid the dieter's worst enemy, food boredom.

Ageless-Diva provides a full range of official Suzanne Somers products, such as the FaceMaster, the ThighMaster, SomerSweet and Spray On MakeUp.

Fast Weight Loss Tips

When people look for a diet, many of them look for fast weight loss tips or a fast weight loss diet so that they can lose weight more quickly. Care should be taken however to make certain that you select a diet which is capable of meeting your physical requirements while also providing you with a method for losing weight rapidly while remaining healthy.

The sad truth of the matter is that most weight loss plans do not work for more than a few days while you restrict your diet. As often as not, your health will be the only thing that you lose for any length of time. The weight you lose will often come back as soon as you revert to your normal eating habits. While this is not true for all diets, it is especially true when it comes to rapid weight loss and fast weight loss diets.

So does that mean that this is always the case and that fast weight loss tips should be summarily ignored or dismissed? The fact is that with the proper quick weight loss tips, a little self control and some knowledge, you can lose weight, keep the weight off and stay healthy all at the same time.

Fast weight loss diets do work well as long as you are careful and pay attention to your dietary needs and other considerations regarding quick weight loss. If somebody is promising that you can lose five pounds a day there are probably going to be some unhealthy side effects. Most fast weight loss tips will allow you to lose somewhere between one and two pounds on the average day.

Most of the best and most valuable fast weight loss tips involve learning how to properly control your caloric intake by eating the right foods. Starving yourself in order to lose weight quickly is unhealthy, no matter what. Neither do you have to spend countless hours exercising and trying to burn fat in order to lose weight quickly. Healthy and fast weight loss tips and diet plans will show you how to eat properly in order to maintain your health and lose weight all at the same time.

Low calorie diets do not work for most people. A lot of the dietary supplements and diet pills have long-lasting detrimental effects on many people. If you are attempting to lose weight quickly, your health should be your primary concern. In fact, many of the quick weight loss diets do not take your personal habits into consideration at all.

Once you learn how to prepare and consume the right foods to meet your daily requirements, you can begin a healthy regimen for your diet. Learning how to eat properly is the key factor in quick weight loss diets and it should be something that you learn about more before deciding which fast action diet is going to be right for you. If you want a fast weight loss diet that works, you need to learn how to eat properly and once you can accomplish that, you can easily accomplish all of your weight loss goals.

Boost Your Afternoon Energy & Lose Weight

Do you feel tired in the afternoon after lunch? Here's how to beat that slump and boost your energy and metabolism, while helping your weight loss program at the same time. So in order to have a productive afternoon, you have to set the scene in the morning.

Now after your high-protein, no-sugar, alertness-improving lunch...

Step 1 - Schedule the right tasks for after lunch

If you have the luxury, make sure that you are doing the right mental taks at the right mental time.

If your energy is naturally low after lunch (and not because you ate poorly), then use this time for correspondence (phone calls, emails). If your energy and mental alertness are high, then tackle your major projects after lunch.

Step 2 - Water & Creativity

Boost your creativity with the sound of running water. Another expert chimes in...

"There's research showing the sound of water does increase creativity. I listen to this website on my computer while I work." Stephen Holt, ACE personal traine of the year, 2003

Step 3 - Take more breaks from your desk

Day after day I see men and women that have been chained (figuratively, of course!) to their desk for 2, 5, 10, and even 20 years.

With each additional year, their postures worsen, they tighten up more and more, and they lose their mobility. Just look at ourselves, hunched over our keyboards, and clenched forward in our driver's seats. Tight. Tense. Tired.

We need to move.

So get up at regular intervals and move around. Once per hour. 1 minute is all it takes. You'll feel more energized.

And even if you are really getting the afternoon energy slumps, and you're tempted to reach for sugar, caffeine, or both, stop!

Hold off from these energy-suckers, and give some bodyweight exercises a try. A little exercise will get your blood flowing and help you with your concentration. I need this when I'm researching through journals. My favorite, of course, is the Y-squat, but the prisoner squat will also work.

Step 4 - Late Afternoon Nutrition

Keep your mind sharp by snacking on protein, healthy fats, fiber, and anti-oxidant rich berries. Some nuts, a protein shake, some berries, and a cup of Green Tea will keep you racing ahead in the mental marathon, while those that rely on caffeine and sugar will be miles behind due to mental cramping and crashing.

Step 5 - Instant Stress Relief

If you're having one of those days, or just had a bad phone call, or disastrous meeting, then use exercise and breathing exercises to bring calm to your stressed out mind and body. A great exercise to release some tension from the upper back is the "Stick up". Stand against the wall and slide your arms up and down in a "stick-up" motion. 10 reps and you'll be ready to go again.

Step 7 - Dinner

You've made it this far, so continue to stick to the plan. Make your dinner from energy-supporting foods like lean proteins, fiber-rich fruits, and nutrient-rich vegetables.

Step 8 - Quality time

This is what it is all about, isn't it? Spending quality time with your friends and family. Healthy relationships are essential to your health. Don't turn on the TV, it will just fire you up and stress you out, leading to poor sleep. Find a way to relax. Yoga and other forms of meditation might help you. Check them out.

Step 9 - Your workout

I'm mentioning this now only because I know how much variation there is among workout times between y'all.

Some exercise first thing in the AM, some at lunch, others after work, and even others still just before bed after the kids are asleep.

So while there is no best time to workout, you can be sure that there is a best frequency...and that is consistently. No matter when you train, your workouts should leave you healthier, more energized, and more productive.

Step 10 - Sleep

The quality and duration of your sleep tonight is essential to your productivity tomorrow. If you are having problems sleeping, fix them! If it is light, noise, stress, or worries, fix these as soon as possible. If you can't pin down your sleep problems to one factor, then keep a sleep journal just like you keep a training journal. This will help you identify your sleep-stealers.

Get Fast Weight Loss Results

Nobody wants to spend countless hours exercising in the gym when they are trying to lose weight. When you want to lose weight you want to do it as quickly as possible but also in a safe manner. One of the more popular ways that people lose weight with is by taking an all natural weight loss pill. These pills are becoming the most effective and safe way to drop the unwanted pounds.

The great thing about an all natural weight loss pill is that you don't have to be concerned with having any bad side effects. With the weight loss pills that you can get from a doctor, they have the risk of giving you uncomfortable side effects like diarrhea, bloating, among other things. So when you are trying to lose weight with a weight loss pill, take the safer route and invest in a herbal pill.

While taking your natural weight loss pills you should also be exercising and eating right. Losing weight is a process that needs many things working in unison to be successful. So it is important that you are watching what you eat and not over indulge on food. You should eat about 6 meals a day instead of eating 3 or so large meals. This will help your metabolism work more efficiently to keep burning the fat.

The key to fast weight loss results can be found with weight loss pills, preferably natural ones. Team that up with a steady exercise routine and a food diet that works for you will get you dropping the pounds quicker then you imagined!

Basal Metabolic Rate and How It Affects Weight Loss

Basal Metabolic Rate is not usually the first thing that comes to mind when you think about weight loss. We usually think about dieting and exercise programs. But, BMR is a large factor in how our bodies gain or lose weight.

Counting the calories consumed in foods or used in exercise needs to have some base line to measure against. Part of this measurement is based on the basal metabolic rate or BMR. The BMR is the base rate for the body's calorie consumption for the basic functions of the body like pumping blood, maintaining body temperature and repairing blood cells.

The food calories consumed and the exercise calories expended are both important to success in weight loss. The number of calories taken in less the number of calories used equals the calories that are left to be stored as fat in adipose tissues. That amount is approximately 70 calories per hour; a little more when we are awake and a little less when we are sleeping. Everyone has a slightly different BMR depending partially on their genetics and partially on their body types.

Other factors that affect the basal metabolic rate are your body temperature (for instance, if you have a fever) and some medications (such as antidepressants). A fever can cause weight loss and antidepressants can cause weight gain. Talk to your health care professional about how the medications you take can affect your body and whether you would need to take additional steps to prevent excessive weight gain.

Your body must have some fat in order to function. Essential fatty acids (EFAs) are used for electrical functions by the heart, brain and muscles. They are also used by the body for regulating hormones.

BMR can also be changed when you are injured. This is a temporary change while your body is using essential fatty acids and proteins to rebuild damaged tissues. Some weight can be lost when recovering from an injury, depending on its severity. Of course, you wouldn't want to go out and break a leg just to lose a few pounds :)

Foods that are high in fat and refined sugars can reduce the basal metabolic rate because they are low in fiber and bulk. This slows down the activity in the intestines and causes the body to absorb more calories from them. Proper nutrition and getting enough vitamins and minerals can help regulate the BMR.

BMR is generally determined by family genetics. To prevent the poor BMR levels that are handed down from the generations before you, it is important to eat a proper diet and exercise according to your age and body's fitness level.

Taking the basal metabolic rate into account when you are planning to lose weight will help you on the road to success.

Eat smaller portions but more meals. Forget eating large portions of the usual three-a-day meals. Eat smaller ones of five to six meals spread out through the day. Listen to your body, you'll find that it needs nourishment every three hours or so. Feeding yourself at the right intervals will prevent you from overeating.

Fill up on H2O. Eight to ten glasses is all it takes but more is even better. It nourishes, makes your skin supple and cleanses your insides, taking out what wastes you can live without.

Quality over quantity. With regards to eating, it's just as beneficial to select what to eat as to how small you eat. You'll need good, healthy doses of carbohydrates, some fiber and protein. Don't reach for that pizza slice yet! Doesn't it have all three? Yeah, along with everything fat. Very detrimental if you want fast easy ways to lose weight.

Put color on your plate. Make eating fun so you won't think you're dieting. Eat different varieties of healthy carbohydrates and a lot of fruits and vegetables. For protein, avoid red meat! Go for some fish and lean meat instead.

Mind the midnight munching. Avoid snacking in the middle of the night, or before bedtime. Eating something close to the time you go to bed will mean a slowdown in the digestion process. If you must satisfy the food cravings at night, prepare something light.

Many people are encountering problems with their excess weight. There are those who are suffering from obesity which is really alarming and dangerous to their health. Fitness experts recommend walking as a good way to lose excess weight and maintain a physically fit body.

Of course, there are far more effective ways on how to lose the unwanted calories in your body. You can engage yourself to a more intense workouts and diet programs which have shown fast results in achieving your goals to lose weight.

Many fitness experts say that walking is the simplest way to lose weight. Walking is a form of exercise that we can do everyday. There are people who do not like the thought of engaging themselves on intense workouts and physical trainings. Some people also like the thought of paying expensive fees on gyms and weigh loss programs.

Walking as a form of exercise can help you with that. You do not need to pay fees to do walking. Generally speaking, walking is inexpensive. You do not need to buy diet pills, pay workouts and trainings and get new exercise gears and equipments for your exercises.

Aside from being a great way to lose weight, walking is also great with your entire fitness and health. It is the primary step to get you motivated and be more dedicated in losing weight. You may set long distance walking in the morning. This is a great way to keep the body active and alive. Now that you have decided to be more active and lose weight through walking, you may need to remember some important things that can help you to be motivated during your walking sessions.

1. It is recommended that you do your walking slowly. You may set long distance training if you are already through with short distance walks. You may start off walking a mile and then add more miles. Five to six miles of added walk would be beneficial for a healthy heart.

2. You should always keep track of your body's reaction. Observe how your body reacts with long distance walking. Walking can also be a great warm up before you engage with intense exercises like running and marathon.

3. To see great results on weight loss, it is recommended that you allot 20 to 30 minutes of walking. This will get your heart rate up and will maintain a good blood circulation. Make walking your daily routine to achieve quick results. If you have a busy schedule, you can at least do it 4 times a week.

4. It is recommended that you keep pace of yourself while you are walking. If you are feeling a little tired and getting bored with your walk, you may stop for a while and take a short rest to refresh yourself for another mile of walk.

Aside from walking, proper diet and exercises are interrelated to one another when it comes to weight loss. Even when you are doing high intense work outs, without proper diet, you cannot get positive results with your weight loss. It is also important that you are properly motivated and dedicated with your desire to lose that unwanted weight.

The Best Cardio Workout To Lose Fat Fast

Let's face it there is no effective fat loss programme without proper nutrition but no fat loss programme is complete without talking about cardiovascular exercises. In order to lose body fat you have to create a calorie deficit. There are two ways you can use to create a calorie deficit.

1) Decrease your calorie intake from food.
2) Burning calories trough exercising.
Tom Venuto, a worldwide bestselling fitness author said it already in his book. Burn
the fat with exercise and feet the muscle with good nutrition. After reading this article
you will discover the best cardio workout for proper fat loss.

Low intensity vs. High intensity

Perhaps you may have heard that low intensity training is better then a high intensity workout. This is not true if this was the case you should burn the most body fat while sleeping. High intensity cardio exercises burns the more calories while lower intensity workouts are burning a greater percentage of calories from fat than carbohydrates. It is important for you that you select an intensity that is not to light but also not to hard.

We call this the fat-burning zone or target zone.

Duration of the workout

If it is your goal to decrease blood pressure or cholesterol then it is enough to train for twenty minutes. But if your goal is to burn body fat off then you have to train for at least thirty minutes otherwise your training won't be effective. Never train more then sixty minutes in one session if you train so long there is a risk for injuries and over- training. Training more then sixty minutes in a twenty-four hour is possible but then you have to split your cardio workouts. One workout in the morning and one in the evening would be your best bet.

Frequency of the workout

For maximum fat loss I recommend you to train at least three days a week. Even if you don't suffer from overweight to much do cardiovascular exercises as well it is good for your health in general. Perhaps you are not blessed with a fast metabolism then adding an addition day or even two, three, four days will maximize your results.

Cardio is not enough

A "secret" that top fitness models and bodybuilders are using is combining cardio exercises with weight training. Cardio is very effective with weight lifting for maximum fat loss. Although it is very rare doing large amount of cardio can result in losing muscle mass. With cardio exercises you can burn calories during the workout but with weight training you burn calories after the workout.

I'm sure you have a good idea now how to create your own best cardio workout for maximum fat loss. Keep an eye on your nutrition as well and you will get results.

Skyrocket your fat loss success

Counting Calories To Lose Weight Sensibly

Scientifically, every pound of body fat represents approximately 3500 calories. Based on this, to lose 1 pound per week you will need to reduce your calorie intake by 3500 calories per week. So, for each pound you want to lose every week, you need to subtract 500 calories per day, from your current consumption level.

Generally, less than 1200 calories daily are not recommended and weight loss of more than 2 pounds per week is also not recommended.

On diet alone, you can see how it won't be possible to lose a pound a day unless of course you already have a considerable calorie intake and the reduction will still leave you with sufficient food and nutrition to remain healthy.

For a more balanced approach to a 1 pound per week weight loss, increase your activity. Decrease your calorie intake by 250 calories per day and exercising to expend the other 250 calories. This approach prevents a decrease in your metabolic rate and promotes increased lean muscle mass, which in turn is the most effective fat consumer. Yes, muscle eats fat, by default.

For a loss of two pounds per week, do the math: 1000 calories per week less, preferably by consuming 500 calories less on a daily basis, and burning 500 by a vigorous exercise routine.

But, sensibly, you only need to reduce your calorie intake by 100 calories per day to make a substantial effect on your weight over the period of the year. By reducing your calories by only 100 calories per day over the course of the year you would have consumed 36,500 less calories and that converts to a weight reduction of almost 10.5 pounds.

That is an easily accomplished weight reduction with very little change to your lifestyle and habits.

Are You Quitting A Weight Loss Regime Again?

Have you ever taken up a challenge with someone to show that you are able to lose weight, but failed miserably in the end?

If you happened to answer yes to either of the question, most probably losing weight isn't as important to you than how you thought it would.

You see, people always have the wrong mindset even if their intention to lose weight is good. Some people wants to look fabulous, some just want to show that they could. But good intention isn't the key to successful weight loss.

The key to successful weight loss is by admitting that it is a serious problem in your life, and that it may hinder your ability to lead a normal or better life ever again.

Some people think that the first step to lose weight, is to surfing the net and find some great workout and diet plan to follow.

To tell you the truth, those are the least important part of success weight loss.

In order to begin your regime at the right note, first you have to understand that weight problem is a very serious problem. And you have to tell yourself that you have the ability to correct this problem.

I don't care if you are a CEO of some big firm, or a ice-cream parlour girl. In both cases, the situation is equally problematic.

You must be saying :"Yeah, right. How can some one as high achieving as a CEO can have any grave problems?"

I tell you, problem is a state of mind.

If you are able to bring yourself to understand that losing weight is The problem, everything will come naturally.

When you are able to get through the stage of denial, you have cleared the first stage. Now I am sure you have cleared the second stage of self motivation, which is to read up on articles and maybe participate in special interest group discussions to verbalise your goals and mindset.

People often after a motivation talk or reading a motivation book, say that those information are just useless and are not effective to change your life. If you think it that way, then you have missed out step three. Step three by the way, is somewhat like coming out of self denial. Although self denial is about getting out of the gut, zealous living is about living your life with vigour and no regret.

Everytime if someone asked you how's your weight loss regime, instead of faking up a phantom workout session, you are able to list out step by step what you have accomplished for your goal. That is zealous living with no regret.

Maybe you don't ever need to visit another weight loss site ever again.

Weight Loss Program

Most weight loss programs include some insane long lasting exercises that burn your fat so that you can regain that fat later again. Others include insane weird diets where you must condition yourself to eat in a specific way, almost like a robot of this society.

Some of the programs include both of those, which in my opinion is a good idea, for as long as the program lasts, because once it finishes you gain that fat again. There are almost no programs that make you lose your fat and make it stay away. I said "almost" because there is at least one program that does all this.

Most of the programs focus on losing fat right at the moment, they almost forget that fat comes back again. They tend to focus ONLY on losing fat, forgetting how to prevent it from rebuilding. This sounds almost like you have to work forever to keep your fat away. Well, guess what, all you have to do is live your life almost like you always have.

All you have to change are a few little simple things that will change your life forever. If you live your life the exact way you always have you will get the same results you have always gotten. Would you better live with all the problems fat causes or take action and do something about it? Would you better change all your life to live like a robot and get some results or change a little your life and get much more results?

Think about it let me know.

Common Myths From Your Fellow Dieters

Myth: You'll be 'Just Fine' With a High Protein/Low Carb Diet.

Fact: Such diets are what we call trap-diets, since by the time you're done, you'll jump on the binging wagon faster than the speed of light. A high protein diet encourages the heavy consumption of meat, dairy products and eggs. While you're asked to stay clear from carbs such as bread, pasta, potatoes and fruits.

What's the problem with the diet? It takes away most of the popular foods; you'd find yourself stuck at a restaurant staring at the menu in a work meeting unable to pick anything off the menu. This leads to a case of severe boredom and frustration after some time, and eventually you will quit the diet all together.

Your body's cholesterol is most likely to skyrocket during such a diet, and some people even lose some of their lean muscle mass. Your kidneys become like a bee hive, trying to get rid of the excess fat and consequently causing dehydration. On the long run, such stress causes serious problems such as: nausea, dizziness, headaches, dehydration, and lethargy. You should stay away from a high protein diet and go for a more balanced diet that will not harm your body in the process.

Myth: Fad Diets for Permanent Weight Loss.

Fact: Yes, everyone seems to say that they've lost the weight in 2 months, but what happens after a year? You're most probably going to discover that they've re-gained the weight and even packed on a couple of extra pounds. The main pillar of any diet is to provide your body with all the nutrients it needs, therefore; diets that cut out foods disturb your body's natural functions. Fad diets do not live up to their "permanent weight loss" promises because most people end up binging after a couple of months dieting.

The key to permanent weight loss is exercise and a balanced diet; any other fad is just an empty promise.

Myth: Low-fat/Fat-free is a Godsend.

Fact: The only food that is low in both calories and fat is fruits. Other man-made products that claim to be low-fat or fat-free usually have extra sugar, starch, or flour to make them yummier. You don't see it in the bold lines, but check the label on the product for every minuet detail before taking it to the counter.

Myth: Dairy Products Are Your Ticket to Heart Attacks and Fat.

Fact: If we were to follow this theory, we should have wiped France off the map a long time ago, since large amounts of cheese and wine are consumed there at a daily basis.

Dairy products are not the enemy; they are an important source of calcium that keeps your bones strong and healthy. As a child, you rely on calcium for your growth and in old age you need to avoid diseases. Dairy products also contain vitamin D, which helps to regulate levels of calcium and phosphorus in your blood.

If you're still worried about weight gain, why not pick those low-fat/fat-free brands from your local supermarket, or even better eat them in moderation.

It is advisable to take care when consuming butter and margarine since they contain high levels of fat and might cripple your weight loss efforts. If you can't wean yourself away from butter, make sure you eat less amounts. Margarine is an over-processed fat that could cause all sorts of troubles if high in trans fat. If you had to pick between the two, grab the butter yet cut on its consumption.

Myth: Going Vegetarian is the Ultimate Weight Loss Solution.

Fact: Ask any vegetarian around you, have you lost weight when you first became a vegetarian? In 90% of the cases, the answer is: no. Plants, by nature, have a lower concentration of nutrients than meat, so you will have to eat more food to make up for the difference. Not to mention that many of the vegetarian diets might deplete your B12, D, calcium, and zinc if not supported by proper supplementation.

For vegans, lacto, or ovo-vegetarians foods such as eggs and dairy products are off bounds, but there are the main sources of such vitamins. In this case, you'll have to rely on uncommon vegetables to provide you with those vitamins.

Aim to eat more fruits and veggies, cut back on meats high in fat (like burgers and hot dogs), greasy fried foods, and sweets, and drink more water instead of sugary drinks like sports drinks or sodas. Great Dieting Tips to loose weight safely:
  • Eat less. More often.
  • Do not eat right before going to bed.
  • Kick the sugar habit.
  • Shop with calories in mind.
  • Reduce the amount of breads, chips, crackers, and salty snacks you eat.
  • Exercise daily.
  • Drink milk, including fat-free or low-fat milk.
  • Drink plenty of water (at least four to six 8-ounce glasses a day).
  • Eat lean, high-protein foods, like lean meat, chicken, fish, or beans.
  • Eat whole grains (like whole-wheat bread or pasta), which provide fiber, B vitamins, and iron.
  • Eat breakfast.
  • Choose smaller portions at fast-food restaurants.
  • Stay away from fad diets you might lose a few pounds temporarily, but if you do not focus on changing your habits, you will probably just gain it back when you go back to your usual way of eating.
  • Do not take diet pills.
  • Avoid seeing foods as "good" or "bad" or eliminating entire groups of foods, like dairy. If you eliminate entire food groups, you may miss out on important nutrients, like calcium
  • If you choose to become a vegetarian, talk to your doctor or dietitian about how to make nutritious vegetarian choices.

Considering Quick Weight Loss Programs?

Most people agree, sure, there's a time and place for moderate, slow-results diets, but if you're out of shape and have a deadline to look better, quick weight loss is what you're after. No matter how tight your deadline is, it never helps to panic. Quick weight loss is a goal you can achieve, and there are a few ways to get there. Remember, extreme results are never easy, but then again what goal was ever worth reaching that was easy? Where do you go? Not the bookstore. Most of those diets are more mainstream, "lifestyle fitness" kinds of books that aren't catered to the extreme reader who really wants quick weight loss as a result.

Okay, so at a very minimum, you need to keep track of ALL calories you're taking in. Set a daily quota, and don't go over it. I don't know what your limit should be of course; that will depend on your size, weight, and typical diet up until now. Your plan of action for quick weight loss will be tweaked more to your individual circumstances. Absolutely take into account your lifestyle. If you work in an office all day, sitting down, it should be lower. More active people might want to allow for a little more. Spread the calories out properly throughout the day as well. It makes much more sense to have three to five evenly sized meals than skipping breakfast, having a light lunch, then gorging yourself for dinner. That's a recipe for hunger pains and being bloated, rather than quick weight loss. Start reading food labels as well. I tell all of my clients to stay away from anything hydrogenated, even though the bad publicity is forcing most companies to cut back on trans fat anyway. Serving size can be misleading if you're looking for quick weight loss, because since the mid 1990's, the FDA standard (if you're in the US at least) has been based on a 3,000 calorie diet. The Calorie-Count website is great for keeping track of all of this. Keeping track of everything is one sure way to achieve your quick weight loss goal. I like how a bodybuilder friend of mine put it, "If you don't track it, you didn't do it."

Liquids are another important part of this quick weight loss goal. Nothing carbonated. These just contain a lot of sodium and force your body to retain water, derailing your efforts to be more active. More and more authorities on nutrition and general medicine recommend green tea and water. Full grown adults should take in two liters of liquids each day (about three-quarters of a gallon). If you're serious about your quick weight loss goal, you might want to stay as close to that amount as possible.

And no matter what kind of quick weight loss program you get into, you just can't take physical exercise out of the equation. While some people hope to, jumping from one silly "lemonade cleansing" diet to the next "low carb" craze, they can never figure out why they stay in bad shape. Try to stick to activities you enjoy, that way you'll at least have a shot of keeping up with them. Most people are surprised by how much they can actually work more physical activity into their regular days. You can skip the elevator, ride a bike to work, or walk if it's feasible. If you're in an office go out during the day whenever you can, even if it's just to walk around. So you can combine decent physical exertion with an effective diet, and you'll realize your quick weight loss goal faster than you probably thought possible.

But even with all of this in mind, most quick weight loss programs are more of a "'last ditch effort" kind of thing. You can lose muscle tissue as well if your body isn't properly nourished. Most people want to avoid the negative image of looking "sickly", or "weak" when they drop several pounds quickly. That's why adequate nutrition is essential. The best all-natural diet programs are the best place to start if you're looking for the right fuel to keep you going in your quick weight loss objectives.

Getting High From Exercise, Naturally

Why is it that so many of us are always tired, lethargic and really don't have any energy at the end of our day of work. The last thing we want to do is head down to the gym, or pull on our jogging sweats and do a workout!

It seems a complete contradiction when you hear about people doing a workout GIVES them more energy, when all you are actually doing is burning lots of calories (ie. ENERGY!!!)

Having once been a desk jockey, spending 8+ hours a day sat in front of a screen, it is as if that computer monitor, telephone and my boss was sucking all that precious energy out of me.

I was not alone!

You could see it in the faces of the men and women working around me, by the time 6 O'clock came by they would wearily pull on their coats and jackets, trudge down to the car park and set off home ready for the sofa and TV remote.

The problem with this energy drain is we would always be looking for the quick "pick-me-up". Normally this comes in the form of snack machine fare, soda drinks packed with sugar, the post work alcoholic drinks and a visit to the curry house or fast food outlet on your journey home.

Coupled with your levels of inactivity this causes the inevitable weight gain, lowering of self esteem, energy and enthusiasm, in a horrible vicious circle...

Thankfully there is a solution, but it does require your first step, luckily we do have a naturally occurring chemical on our side to help us on the way once we do get going, beta-endorphin.

This chemical gives us a natural high after doing a workout, that kind of feel good glow. What's more it is possible to become addicted to this feeling, making the decision to pack a bag for the gym easier and easier!

It is important to understand under what conditions you need to invoke a flood of beta-endorphin, there is an easy way and a hard way...

It may seem strange to learn that the hardest way to get the rush is the most common method of workout that is adopted. When you jump on to your favorite cardio machine in the gym, or pull on your trainers for a jog it can take in excess of 50 minutes, according to clinical studies, in the "fat-burning zone" to get a decent kick of endorphin. The problem is it takes an awful lot of motivation to stick out a long and slow workout for a bit of a high.

Now I suppose you don't really want to know about the hard way!!

The easy way comes in the form of short-sharp bursts of physical activity, the studies show that this style of workout normally brings about a bigger endorphin hit in less time than the long, slow, steady state cardio workouts.

The workouts can take the form of quick 25 minute cardio interval routines, where the most tedious part is the warm up and cool down.

Another option is your traditional circuits style routines, a series of exercises done intensively, each one for 30 seconds, then taking a short rest as you move on to the next exercise. Not only are these workouts fun, you'll burn plenty of calories during and after just a 30 minute workout.

The third option comes in the form of bodyweight, multi-muscle, multi-dimensional exercises done at an intensity and tempo that will exhaust the muscles in your body quickly. Exercises like squats, lunges, step ups, push ups, bodyweight rows and pull ups (Notice I didn't say crunches or sit ups, avoid wasting your precious workout time on exercises that really don't help that much. The reasons... OK that's for another article)

You can set yourself a great workout that is done in 40 minutes with these exercises, all giving you the endorphin rush to boot too!

Many of our clients report a rush of energy and actual enthusiasm when they come to do their workouts! One such client, a particularly stressed and sedentary IT contractor, who really despised the thought of working out at the end of the day, started appearing in the Gym more and more frequently, until I started seeing him there EVERY evening! I questioned him on his new found enthusiasm, he said "I still don't relish the thought of coming to do my workouts, but I get one hell of a kick out of finishing it!!"

So you see there is a solution to your lack of energy and motivation, there truly is a "natural" high from getting short-intensive workouts done. Yes it is tough making the first step, but get yourself in your local gym from tomorrow and get a safe and legal chemical high from a quick and hard workout.

Historical Approaches to Weight Loss and Healthy Eating

Here are a few interesting facts:

Today, we have made nutrition a science; we think that our experts know the secrets to healthy eating.

A much wider variety of healthy foods are available to us today than ever before.

However, in modern society, more of us have weight problems and become ill or even die from conditions related to being overweight than ever before!

Maybe its just possible that we have something to learn from the way that people ate in the past throughout much of human history, in fact. One thing goes without saying, and is probably the most important factor in the past, food was more natural. While it may be true that people ate more fat and even more calories, they acquired them from food that was close to its natural state, and therefore better for health.

But heres something else something that may surprise you. People in most ancient societies and right through the Middle Ages and Renaissance did not follow the advice that most nutritionists would give today. They hardly ate any breakfast at all, though we are often told that breakfast is the most important meal. In fact, they were likely to eat only one large meal a day or two at the most, in which case one would be larger than the other. And heres another thing that would make modern nutritionists shake their heads in despair quite a lot of the time, it seems, that one big meal was eaten rather late in the day often after the sun went down and the days work was done!

This is, of course, the direct opposite of what we hear nowadays. We are told never to skip breakfast, and that numerous smaller meals are better than fewer large ones. According to traditional societies, though, thats just not true. People in ancient Greece and Rome would eat very little in the morning a small piece of bread, maybe, or a fig or two. They would work throughout the day, eating little or nothing. Then, when work was done for the day, they would sit down to a great meal. What it consisted of would vary according to how well-off the people were, and the precise region they lived in but for everyone, the evening meal would be comprised of most of their daily calories. They would go to bed on a full stomach, digest during the night, and be energized and have little need to eat next morning.

As time went on, some farming cultures varied this basic plan somewhat, and had their main meal in the middle of the day. They would then have a light supper rather like our lunch late in the evening. In fact, there are people in some European cultures today who eat exactly like this to this day.

Today, breakfast is sacrosanct, but it actually was not even invented until the seventeenth century. At that time, the idea of breakfast was popularized by the British royal family and their breakfast consisted of several courses, including meat, salads, and even dessert. In fact, the royals and aristocrats were the deviants all along. They didnt eat like most people did they increased the amount and frequency of their meals, and ended up with much of the health and weight problems that we have today!

By contrast, the peasants meals seemed to be, for the most part, just right as long as there wasnt a drought or famine in the area, that is. Of course, part of it might have been the simple food and hard labor, but evidence suggests that people in bygone times had very few weight problems, despite (or maybe because of?) their tendency to eat most of their calories at one meal, which was often an evening meal, at that! Should we follow their lead? It goes against conventional wisdom, but it seems worth thinking about. If nothing else, we should appreciate the fact that this type of eating has been around a lot longer than modern diets and eating plans, and seems to have been successful, for the most part. So if youre not a breakfast person, dont despair chances are you werent bred to be!

Why Use A Weight Loss Program?

So why actually use a weight loss program?

Losing weight is not only a testing process but can be a long process at the same time if not done properly. Its like a sports car! In order to keep it working to its maximum you have to keep it well fuelled, maintained and oiled. If just one of these factors is missed then that supreme sports car will not run to its maximum and most probably breakdown. The human body and weight loss runs in a similar manner. To get the most out of it and achieve those results within weight loss you have to get every factor inch perfect from diet to exercise and the right mind set. Doing this by yourself can be a daunting process and why most people fall off the rails when it comes to succeeding in losing weight. This is where a well written detailed plan or program can come into play.

When we as humans are faced with a task or problem the first thing we do is try to find a solution to the problem as easy and quickly as possible. So with the problem being weight loss and the aim is to destroy those extra pounds a weight loss program can solve that problem easier and quicker than struggling through it on your own.

There are countless programs available to choose from and finding a program to suit you is vital not only to maximise results but to give you a detailed step by step guide to reaching that ultimate goal of a new slimmer you. Weight loss programs are full of detailed information on dieting and eating healthily which is one of the main factors of any weight loss success. There is information on what to eat, when to eat and how much to eat to keep your body nourished and full at all times. If a step by step guide on what to eat and when is proven to give results then you are suddenly in that "win win" situation in possession of a bible to success.

On top of the diet, exercise is as important in all aspects. The fact step 1 is covered and your diet is equipped for battle, step 2 and exercise will destroy that fat. Exercising is needed to lose weight there is no way of getting around this point but the thought of pounding away on a treadmill for hours or doing a 1000 sit ups is enough to put off the most motivated individual. Now by following a detailed weight loss program you are giving your arsenal against the fat a fighting chance. The exercise routines within a good detailed plan will not have you pounding a treadmill or putting your stomach muscles through torture as there will be detailed exercise plans that in some cases last only 30 minutes. Exercise plans that are simple to follow, easy to understand and literally guide you through the whole process while bringing results. Having that sort of information does not only boost your chances of success but virtually guarantee it. Some people look at a detailed diet and exercise program as being a personal trainer and nutritionist all rolled into one without the damage on the purse.

A simple step by step guide will bring success and what an exercise program can ultimately offer. Its like anything, try putting a flat pack wardrobe together without the step by step guide. Of course in time there might be a chance you get it together. But use a step by step guide and you will succeed just about every time and in quick time.

So if you have thought about looking into a detailed program to follow or whether one would enable you to lose more weight and quicker. The answer is of course its not a magic plan but like anything else a plan of attack brings results! FACT!

Exercise programs that cover all major factors are few and far between and finding one to assist you is a job in itself. They are available though! Visit http://www.weight-loss-made-easy.com for more info and tips on finding the right path on your weight loss journey.

Green Tea Diet Review

Because of the popularity of recent findings, green tea has almost grown to be synonymous with weight loss and nutritional regime. The adding of green tea diet into diet tablets and weight loss supplements is spurred by news of dangerous side effects of other drugs like ephedra.

Why choose green tea diet?

For four thousand years, green tea diet has been used in Asia to promote fitness and as a medical drink. Green tea diet is not like other tea diets. Its liquid is extracted by steaming the leaves of the Camellia sinensis plant as opposed to full oxidation. By using this method the green tea diet manages to save a lot more antioxidants. This allows the green tea to keep more of its antioxidants and keeps them intact for the body to use.

Green tea diet is an exceptional source of polycatechin polyphenols, a group of antioxidants that work on free radicals. These free radicals have injurious effects on the body because they are the main causes of diseases and aging. With green tea diet's polycatechin polyphenols, an individual has an improved possibility of avoiding ailments and keeping himself fit for a much longer time.

Another antioxidant in green tea diet is also being studied as a possible treatment for tumors. Epigallocatechin gallate or EGCG found in green tea diet has been discovered to tear down tumor cells while keeping surrounding healthy cells unharmed.

The EGCG in green tea diet in addition acts with another compound, caffeine (a small quantity of this is found in green tea). The interacting of these two compounds causes green tea diet to help thermogenesis in the body.

It has been noted by a study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition that to drink green tea diet, the body's total 24-hour energy expenditure is greater than before by up to four percent. This is roughly same as losing more than 10 pounds of weight a month.

Green tea diet helps boost the body's metabolic rates. Green tea with its thermogenic properties can also increase body metabolism of fats and sugars. Our bodies turn excess glucose into fats by the hormone insulin. The green tea diet has an inhibiting effect on insulin, and helps keep sugar from being stored as fats and instead, sends it directly into the muscles for immediate use.

The negative aspect to a green tea diet

It has been said the green tea diet increases health benefits but scientific proof of its health benefits are still mixed. An article in print in the Archives of Internal Medicine, states American researchers collaborated with their Chinese counterparts to discuss the good effects of green tea diet on cholesterol levels.

Using 240 men and women (average age 55) who have mild to moderately high LDL cholesterol levels, the researchers told them to keep their usual low-fat watch your weight, green tea diet drinking, and activity levels. After twelve weeks, it was show that individuals who consumed green tea diet extract with their normal meals lost more than fifteen percent of their total LDL cholesterol levels.

Although the researchers never explained how green tea diet may influence cholesterol levels. Earlier studies have shown that certain compounds in green tea diet play a function in reducing cholesterol absorbed by the body. Thus increasing the quantity of cholesterol excreted, and thus keeping cholesterol from being stored in the liver.

Further studies were conducted to test the findings of the first group. Their results were conflicting. They did state green tea diet had no important effect on the cholesterol profiles of their subjects.

There are no miracle diets. The Green tea diet, like all other diets, requires work and input from those who use it. The green tea diet requires willpower and heart for it to make an important impact on your weight loss goals.

Weight Loss Success Stories - My Own Success Story

We read weight loss success stories in advertisements in magazines, and see the weight loss success stories on info-mercials with "results are not typical" at the bottom of the screen. It's kind of depressing sometimes.

So, I decided that I would like to share my real weight loss success story with you. My hope is that it will help motivate you on your path to weight loss, or give you the push you need to commence your own weight loss program.

For me, it all started years ago. I would diet all the time. I would see some weight come off, feel good about myself, start eating normally again and pile all the weight back on. Every diet I went on would follow this pattern. I was your classic yo-yo dieter.

A few months ago I decided enough was enough and I was going to get rid of my yo-yo habit (I kicked cigarettes years ago, so I was sure I could kick another addiction!). I commenced a new program. This program would involve eating normally. This program would not involve starvation and eventual relapse. This program would involve some exercise. I planned to not only lose weight, but become healthy. I would target weight from fat, not weight from water.

I picked up a copy of a commercially available weight loss and (more importantly) weight control program.

The essence of the program is as follows:

1. Rather than eating three meals a day, change your habits and space your meals out to six per day.

2. Do some light exercise.

There are some things you need to calculate at first and some other things you need to measure, but basically that's it!

Using this program I have managed to lose about 20 pounds in two months. I am now a shadow of my former self. Importantly, I lost this weight without going hungry. As for maintenance, there's nothing to change-- I am eating more than enough food with more than enough variety and I can have a binge when I like.

I hope this weight loss success story was motivating in some way for you and helps you find it within yourself to achieve your long-term health goals.

Fast Weight Loss

Diet pills, diet patches, prepared meals. There seems to be millions of ways to help with fast weight loss these days that it seems strange that we are experiencing record obesity rates around the world does it not?

It seems more about the industries ability to push our "lose weight fast" buttons than it does to actually help anyone with weight loss.

We all know the real key is to learn how to eat and teach ourselves how to do it without being hungry all the time. If we can manage to find the way to drop the pounds without being hungry then we probably have a plan we can stick with and keep that extra weight off for good.

Is there really a quick diet fix? I think that is a matter of what we are willing to do to make it happen.

Finding the right plan and sticking to it is the key and being able to see results fast and steady is all the motivation most people need. Well that and not having to take out a second mortgage to pay for a diet plan. The prepared meal plans have been billed as some of the best but let's be honest that the food does not really taste that good and it is way over priced for what we are getting. Besides that most of us are capable of making our meals if we just knew exactly what it was we were supposed to prepare.

The best fast weight loss I have ever experienced was being able to be flexible with the meals I choose and not having to starve myself or fight urges when I am feeling hungry. I have learned that food is not my enemy when I understand how it reacts within my body and it has been the key for keeping the weight off.

I have a small site that provides more information about fast weight loss without the pills, patches and expensive meals. You can visit it at:
